Xoco (Mexican fresh fast food)

Too high of expectations may have led to my disappointment at Xoco. In seeing Bacalhau as the day’s special dish, I couldn’t wait to taste a fish that rarely appears on menus in Chicago. Sadly, when my sandwich arrived, the cod chunks were buried between potatoes and unseasoned tomato puree and suffocated by a large baguette roll. What a shame to bury a delicious fish in potatoes and bread! Trim the bread down, add many more capers or olives, onions, salt and let the cod shine.

This cute Mexican spot may be nothing more than my go-to place for a fried churro and vanilla bean soft serve.
